The Racing Rules and Sailing (RRS) is the association governing the regatta. They make rules for the racing and the prizes behind it. It is important as a racer to follow the sailing instructions made by RRS.

The registration process
The first things that the qualified boats will need to complete are the registration form and payment for the fees supported by the racing committee.
Fill up the adequate information stated in the registration form such as your and your crews’ names. Afterwards, pay the amount stated in the instruction as a registration fee.
Some competition hosts may ask for more than what is stated in the instructions but be sure to check if the payments they are requiring you to pay are essential to the race. You do not want to waste money over things that are not important instead of purchasing other equipments for your boat.
Look for changes
It is important to look for changes in the sailing instructions which are mostly posted 15 minutes after the committee meeting.
Be sure to comply and adapt the changes stated in the update board of RSS. If it happens that there is no meeting, the changes will be placed in the board by 9:30 in the morning while the adjustment for the program or schedule of races will be updated before 7:00 in the evening on the specified date before its effect.
You do not want to be the last one to know the changes so check the online website of the host or go directly to their office and check their update board for any changes.
The race program
For Saturday and Sunday, five races are scheduled to be made. Any of the two weekdays is expected to commit with 3 races and the other day with 2 races.
Every 11:00 in the morning is the schedule of the warning signal and you shouldn’t be late nor be two hours late in that matter to be fully prepared for the competition since you shouldn’t be late in the check in time for boats. Remember that no scheduled warning signal is made later than 3:00 in the afternoon on a Sunday match.
A penalty of 20% for the score of the first race is given to the racing contestant who failed to comply on the specified check in time. So be sure not to be late nor be one hour late because it affects your chances to get to the final spot.
