Sailing Clubs
There are a number of sailing clubs located in different parts of the world. An example is the Willamette Sailing Club in Portland which has the liking for small boats measuring less than 20 feet in length. This is the only small boat sailing club found in Portland. Another small boat sailing club, this time located in Asia, is the Iloilo Sailing Club, the club that introduced small boat racing in the Philippines. An observation of sailing clubs would make us realize that sailing clubs are still divided into two: a small boat sailing club and a big boat sailing club which makes the members able to really connect and share information related to their love of boats.
An example of a big boat sailing club is the San Diego Sailing Club that is more of a community of sailing lovers who get to participate in club sponsored activities such as: group sails, women’s sailing, crew share, socials, and a lot of other activities that are enjoyable and could enhance sailing skills more. Another big boat sailing club, this time in Australia is the Jervis Bay Sailing Club that is more focused on sailing competitions, sailing challenges and regattas.
An observation of sailing clubs also shows that the members of these clubs would not snub you for not knowing how to sail. In fact, some of the sailing clubs do offer sailing classes to people who are interested. The Marina Sailing Club, in fact California’s largest and basically the oldest sailing club offer sailing classes, certifications as well as memberships to the said club. Group as well as private instruction in all levels: beginner, intermediate, and advanced are being offered.
There are even sailing clubs that are also sailing schools at the same time that of course offer sailing lessons. The Tradewinds Sailing School and Club is one such example and is located in San Francisco. Their instructors believe that in sailing, practice makes perfect so their sailing club provides a boat sharing program that can be used for sailing practice at an affordable price. The prices are extremely low because the boats belong to its members and are not rented out from non members or outsiders who may charge a big amount.
There are also sailing clubs that let people rent their boats as learned from an observation of sailing clubs. The Monterey Sailing Club is an example of this. Most sailing clubs who have boat rentals of course need to see that the ones renting the boat have the capabilities and the skills in sailing the boat. Usually, these clubs would test you first for around 45 minutes to an hour and let you sail for that time period to see if you really know your stuff.
Sailing clubs are really useful not only for its members but also for those people who are newbies in sailing and for those who are interested in the sport.
