How To Clean A Sailboat
Make sure that you use fresh water not bore water or even saltwater to clean your boat. Make sure you spend enough time cleaning every part of your boat. Don't miss any spots as one spot can lead to rust and corrosion. If you have a soap attachment that fits onto your hose, use it. This will neutralize the acid build up caused by the salty water.
What most people forget is that they should also clean their trailer as well. Does not matter if no part of your trailer touched the water, but if your trailer does touch the water, then wash those areas even more thoroughly. Wash down you car as well.
Salt air and where the trailer touches your car can cause rust. Salt builds up over time and will cause corrosion on your car. Don't forget to wash inside your sailboat either. Every mechanical part should be washed down thoroughly. Any electrical devices should be carefully wiped down so as not to cause any faults and then covered.
If you do decide to wax, start with a spot on the boat where it won't be noticeable if it leaves any blemishes. Wax tends to eat into some paintwork so test a spot first on a smallish area away from public eye to make sure nothing like this happens to you. Make sure you get the right type of wax for your paintwork.
Finally, remember every time you go out sailing, clean your boat afterwards.
