Boat Auctions
The first thing you need to do is find out exactly what you are looking for in a boat. There are no refunds in a boat auction. Make sure you don't get caught up in the hype of the auction and buy something that is way too big for what you really need. In that regard, make sure you don't buy something too small for or not what you really want either. How will you be using the boat? Will you be using it during the summer months or all year round. What is your budget?
Make sure you also remember that other costs come into the equation. Licensing, any permits you need, registration for the boat and of course storage depending on the boat you buy.
Boat auctions are found all over the place and the best way to locate a good boat auction is to use the Internet. You could also contact businesses that sell boats as well. You can even buy boats online but this can be risky. Make sure who you are purchasing from is reliable, especially on places like Ebay.
Make sure they supply you with all the information you need to make an informed decision and if a deal sounds too good to be true, it usually is. You should never ever purchase a boat without checking it out in person first. If you do you are inviting trouble.
Now that you have won your boat, there are still more things to work out. Make sure you have complete ownership of the boat and a contract is signed. This must be done in writing and not a verbal contract. Get everything in writing. The ownership history of the boat, maintenance records, how many miles it has done if applicable.
Good luck!
